Modelling spatial and temporal patterns in bioturbator effects on sediment resuspension: A biophysical metabolic approach

چکیده
Tidal flats are biogeomorphic landscapes, shaped by physical forces and interaction with benthic biota. We used a metabolic approach to assess the overarching effect of bioturbators on tidal landscapes. The bivalve common cockle (Cerastoderma edule) was as model organism. C. edule sediment resuspension approximated function overall population rate per unit area. combined i) laboratory observations how affect along gradients bioturbation activity, cohesiveness hydrodynamic force ii) spatial data natural distribution intertidal populations. This allowed us build an integrated gradient. Owing temperature dependence rate, also accounted for seasonal variation in activity. Laboratory experiments indicated that is positively related especially cohesive sediments. Based this observation, we predicted clear pattern relative importance contribution transect. At lower elevations, our indicates hydrodynamics overrules biotic effects; at higher inter-tidal should be too low suspend bioturbated influence expected maximal intermediate elevation mudflat, owing combination moderate stress high bioturbator Also, bio-mediated particularly warm season. Research into dependency may help place phenomenological broader framework theories ecology formulate general expectations coastal ecosystem functioning.

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
patterns and variations in native and non-native interlanguage pragmatic rating: effects of rater training, intercultural proficiency, and self-assessment
although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...
15 صفحه اولStudy of spatial and temporal rain and drought patterns in the south of Iran using TRMM
Droughts are one of the most damaging climatic phenomena, and the most complex natural hazard which affects the economy, agriculture, public health and environment in large areas. The aim of this study is to compare drought indicators derived from tropical rainfall measuring mission (TRMM) data in the south of Iran. Also the TRMM rainfall was considered, so as to investigate changes in the rai...

متن کاملSpatial and temporal patterns of benthic macrofauna in Gorgan Bay, south Caspian Sea, Iran
We quantified the distribution, abundance and assemblage structure of macrofauna at 22 stations in Gorgan bay, seasonally in 2012-2013. Also, depth, temperature, salinity, DO, TOM and sediment particle size were measured in each station. The highest concentration of TOM was measured near the western littoral zone (10.22) while the mouth part and north-eastern area was characterized by the lowes...
